MOREHEAD, KY -- The Morehead State baseball team earned a win in walk-off fashion, sealing the victory on senior Roman Kuntz's solo home run off of senior Cory Anderson to beat the Screaming Eagles 11-10 Thursday.
Junior Trevor Callahan (2-0) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Morehead State (15-11, 2-2 OVC). The right-hander went 0.1 shutout innings without giving up a hit.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Eagles were trailing 2-0 in the first inning when they first put runs on the board. Morehead State managed to push across two runs in the inning.
The Screaming Eagles then scored three runs to retake their advantage heading into the second inning, when the Eagles responded by getting back on the scoreboard themselves. The Morehead State offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a one-run groundout off the bat of senior Colton Becker, which brought the Eagles lead to 6-5.
Morehead State's lead had evaporated by the time the eighth inning came around and turned into an 8-6 Southern Indiana advantage, when the Eagles re-gained control at 10-8. The Eagles bats heated up in the inning, scoring four runs, including a two-run home run off the bat of senior Ryley Preece.
Southern Indiana then rallied to tie the ballgame at 10-10 before Morehead State walked it off in the bottom of the ninth on Kuntz's leadoff home run off of Anderson.
