OXFORD, Miss. -- The Morehead State baseball team had a tough showing on Friday, falling to the Ole Miss Rebels by final score of 10-3.
Luke Helton (3-1) got the ball to start for Morehead State (7-6) and took the loss. Junior Trevor Callahan was a bright spot for the Eagles, coming out of the bullpen and throwing four innings, giving up one run on three hits, with two walks and four strikeouts.
Davis Germann led the way offensively for the Eagles, going 1-for-4 in the ballgame with an RBI. Senior Roman Kuntz compiled a standout day at the plate as well, going 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Ryley Preece (0-4) saw his 51-game reached base streak come to an end in the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 2-0, the Eagles first put runs on the board in the second inning. Germann's run-scoring single highlighted a two-run inning for Morehead State.
The Rebels then scored four runs to retake their advantage heading into the third inning, when the Eagles responded by getting back on the scoreboard themselves. Morehead State scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Kuntz, which tightened the Rebels lead to 6-3. The Eagles were unable to get any closer, as Ole Miss added four runs to their tally on the way to a 10-3 final.
