MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State's women's basketball program has added another mentor as Chris Palmer has joined the staff as assistant coach.

Originally from Lilburn, Ga., Palmer played college ball at Emmanuel in Franklin Springs, Ga. He was a key part of the 2018 NCCAA National Championship team and also lent a hand in three straight 20-win seasons in the Division II Conference Carolinas.

"I am extremely excited and blessed to be joining the family here at Morehead State University," he said. "The people have been very welcoming, and I look forward to working every day to carry out (Head) Coach (Cayla) Petree's vision for the women's basketball program."

Palmer joined the coaching staff at Emmanuel in 2019. That season, the program won 20 games, and he helped a pair of all conference players in Emerson McClung and Brandon Simpson. He also coached eventual two-time D2 Player of the Year and 2024 NBA Draft prospect KJ Jones.

Following his time at Emmanuel, Palmer was in charge of a individualized player development program, Pure Performance Basketball, in Atlanta. Current clients include Kevon Harris (Orlando Magic), Stanley Umude (Detroit Pistons) Brandon Goodwin (Atlanta Hawks) and AD Durr (Atlanta Dream).

In 2022-23, Palmer joined the Staff at Southern Wesleyan (S.C.) where he coached one of the Conference Carolinas Conference's top freshmen in Bryson Felder.
