Morehead, Ky.-- Laura Toffali and
Marie Sepp are the two Morehead State players who have been named as players to watch in the Ohio Valley Conference this season.
"Marie and Laura are the epitome of our program, who we are and want to continue to be moving forward," said Morehead State head coach Ashton Feldhaus. "They are competitive, selfless and team-first in everything they do. They set the standard every day with how they practice, prepare and lead. Our group follows their example, and I feel so blessed they chose to come with me on this journey," she said.
Toffali and Sepp came to Morehead State after playing for Feldhaus last season at Missouri Western. The Griffons finished their 2024-25 campaign with a 20-10 record overall and a 14-5 mark in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, earning a berth in the NCAA Division II tournament.
Sepp, a native of Tallinn, Estonia, started all 30 games from the Griffons last season. She averaged 12 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game, she shot 53% from the field.
"Marie is our floor general," said Feldhaus. "She runs the team with confidence and composure and knows how to get everyone involved. She commands the floor, understands the pace we want to play, and is a true extension of our coaching staff on the court. She is the most competitive player I have ever coach and makes everyone around her better."
Last season, Sepp posted a season-high 22 points against Northwestern Missouri State on February 1. She posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds on March 7, against Arkansas-Fort Smith.
A native of Villasanta, Italy, Toffali averaged 9.1 points and 3.9 rebounds per game last season, playing in all 30 games and making 23 starts.
"Laura is our most versatile and complete player. She impacts the game on both ends of the floor," said Feldhaus. "She can score it, defend multiple positions, and brings a toughness that elevates everyone around her. Her consistency and competitiveness really drive our team. She is due for a breakout season and has all the skills to dominate the game."
Toffali recorded a season-high 21 points last season against Fort Hays State on March 8. She posted a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds against Minnesota State in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
Morehead State opens the 2025-26 season November 3, at Kentucky in Memorial Coliseum.
