MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The Morehead State men's golf team tied for sixth place out of 12 teams in the Xavier Invitational.

Morehead State posted team scores of 302-295-298 for a total of 895 (+55) for the 54 holes of competition over the 7,109-yard, par-70 Maketewah Country Club. Once again, the host team of Xavier took home the victory, posting a score of 276-283-295--854 (+14).

The course was a difficult one. Battling the wind, all 12 competing teams finished at least 14 or more over par. Seven of the 12 competing teams finished 50 over par. Two individuals, Cayse Morgan from Xavier and Haden Maxwell from OVC foe Tennessee Tech, shot under par. Titus Boswell from IU Indy shot even, and the other competing 73 shot over par.

"We faced another difficult challenge this week," said head coach Matthew Martin. "There were still some positives sprinkled in throughout, especially the final 36 holes from Liles. We certainly have some work to do over the next three months, but I am confident our guys will come back stronger in the spring."

Morehead State was led by Logan Liles, who notched his first top-20 performance of the 2025-26 season. Liles posted a score of 77-71-73--221 (+11) tying him for 17th.

Seamus Bogan (76-76-73--225), Gavin Augenstein (73-77-76--226) and Logan McCormick (76-74-76--226) finished top 40.

Remy Stalcup (80-74-79--233) and Mitchell Gastright (87-77-84--248) also competed for the Eagles, with Gastright playing as an individual.

MSU just wrapped up its final tournament of the 2025 calendar year, and will be back in action at the Compadres Collegiate in Cancun, Mexico, on February 1-2.

Highlighted by a record-breaking performance at the Derek Dolenc Invitational in September, the Eagles put together a solid start to their season. The Eagles finished top six in four out of five tournaments, and top three in two of five tournaments. Their early success sets a strong foundation as they look to carry that momentum into the rest of the season.
