MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The Morehead State Rifle team came up short, in falling to Akron 4,709-4,677, Saturday in a neutral-site match at the X-Count Range in Ft. Wayne, Ind.
The Eagle totaled 4,361 in Air Rifle and 2,316 in Smallbore.
Senior
Hayden Bell led the Eagles in Air Rifle, firing a 594, which was the second highest score of the day among all shooters. Senior
Adrianna Beard was close behind at 593. Sophomore
Chloe Shannon fashioned a 589, and sophomore
George Kuhne carded 585. Sophomore Tret Myers closed the counters' scoring totals at 584. Among the non-counters, freshman Hannah Goiun was tops at 582.
The Smallbore range saw Beard lead the squad with a 582. Bell, Myers and Shannon all tied at 578, while Kuhne finished with a 574. Goin's 571 led the remaining three shooters who took part. She set her kneeling career-high at 190 and tied her prone career-best at 194.
Akron's Matthew Kimball and Rachael Paddock were the top overall scorers of the day, with an 1,183 aggregate each.
MSU returns home to host UT Martin on Friday and Saturday next weekend.
