MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Following Morehead State's historic women's golf OVC Championship in the spring of 2025, Eagle head coach
Stephanie Barker has earned the Midwest Region Coach of the Year honor from the LPGA.
"I am truly honored and thrilled to be recognized by the LPGA as the Midwest Coach of the Year. It's such a privilege to be a member of the LPGA and continue to learn from all of the the tremendous individuals in the golf community who help us impact our students in positive ways," she said. "This special award is a real testament to the incredible women I have the honor to coach. Their dedication, determination and resilience continues to amaze and inspire me."
Barker was also named the 2023, 2020 and 2015 LPGA Midwest Region Coach of the Year.
Barker, the only head coach in the history of the program since it was re-established prior to the 2008 season, led MSU to its third-ever OVC title and second in the past three seasons when the Eagles topped second-place Little Rock by 29 strokes at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Muscle Shoals, Ala., in April.
Barker helped guide then-junior
Tuva Marie Isebakke to OVC Player of the Year and OVC Tournament medalist honors - the sixth time an Eagle has been named the OVC's best player for a season. Barker was crowned OVC Coach of the Year. She was also bestowed OVC Coach of the Year in 2011 and 2023.
Barker has consistently led the Eagle program to be one of the top performing squads year in and year out. She has coached more than 50 OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll recipients, 40 All-OVC performers and more than 25 National Golf Coaches Association Scholar All-Americans at MSU. Her teams have maintained a 3.5 GPA or higher every semester and won the 2020-21 OVC Team Academic Award.
She has mentored six OVC Golfers of the Year (2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2023, 2025), six OVC Freshmen of the Year (2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2023, 2024) and a quartet of league-tournament medalists (2011, 2012, 2023, 2025).
