Eagle Men Trek to Presbyterian Saturday

MOREHEAD, Ky. --  Morehead State Men's Basketball will look to get back in the win column this weekend as the Eagles make the trek to Clinton, S.C. to battle Presbyterian. Tip off in the Templeton Center is 2 p.m. ET. Saturday.

The  game will air on ESPN+ and the Eagle Sports Radio Network. You can listen to Chuck Mraz  and Drew Barnette on WIVY-96.3 FM (flagship station), on WMST 106.9 FM or on MSUEagles.com.

Morehead State travels to Presbyterian looking to maintain the program's perfect series record against the Blue Hose. MSU is 3-0 all-time vs. PC (also a member of the Eagles' Pioneer Football League). MSU owns 1-0 records at home, on the road and at a neutral site vs. PC.

The Blue Hose are 5-6 in 2025-26, with a win over MSU common opponent ETSU.

NOTABLE
• Head Coach Jonathan Mattox reached 200 overall wins for his career as a staff member or a head coach (at Morehead State and Murray State) with the Eagles' win over Kentucky Christian.

• Morehead State has a 112-63 overall record since 2020-21, or 63 percent success rate. That figure ranks No. 1 for winning percentage in the Ohio Valley Conference in that span. The program has had nine 20-win seasons since 2008-09.

• Morehead State ranks second in the OVC in bench points per game (31.3).

• In six of the nine games, the Eagles have come up with 8 or more steals.

• Morehead State will be looking to snap a six-game road losing streak. The program is only 1-10 in the last 11 true road games since last year.

• Transfer guard Davion Cunningham won the OVC's Player and Newcomer of the Week honors last week. He averaged 22.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game at the ETSU MTE event.

Davion Cunningham has four straight double-figure scoring games and has reached 10+ in five of the last six outings. In the past six games, he averaged 14.3 points per game.

Jon Carroll ranks second in the OVC and 14th nationally with four double-doubles, including two of the last games.

George Marshall, Jr. has made 55 of his last 60 attempts from the free throw stripe. He is a career 83 percent free throw shooter.

• Morehead State will look to get back on track shooting from distance. In the past two games, MSU is just 8-of-31 (26 percent) after making 37 percent or better in four of the previous seven games.

• Freshman Vince Dawson III is a state champion. He led Great Crossing High School in Georgetown, Ky., to the Sweet 16 title in 2024-25. Davion Cunningham was also a state champion at North Mecklenburg High School in Huntersville, North Carolina.

• Senior transfer Tamaury Releford earned the MVP of the Arkansas State Tournament and was named the Northwest Arkansas Conference MVP during his senior season in 2021-22.

• In the past five years, MSU is 49-2 when it shoots 50 percent or better and 60-2 when the opponent fails to score 60.

• In the past five years, MSU is an astonishing 106-3 when it holds a lead with a minute left in the game.
