MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Not much went in favor of the Morehead State men's basketball team Thursday night against Southeast Missouri. On the flip side, the Redhawks did seem to have things go mostly their way as they walked out of Johnson Arena with an 80-51 victory over the Eagles.
Morehead State (14-10/9-4 OVC) fell behind by 16 at the half and could not mount a rally as the visitors (14-10/9-4) went on to lead by as much as 30. It marked the largest home loss since falling 87-55 to Lipscomb on Nov. 25, 2018 and the largest margin of defeat to an Ohio Valley Conference opponent at home since falling by 23 to Jacksonville State on Jan. 21, 2006.
Two Eagles still ended with double figure points as
Tyler Brelsford led the way with 13 and Kenny White, Jr., had 11. But MSU was held to just 2-of-15 on three-pointers and missed eight free throws.
Kade Ruegsegger led in rebounds with five as SEMO held a 38-28 lead on the boards.
SEMO's Rob Martin led all players with 27 points, including 17 in the first half. BJ Ward had 16 points. SEMO finished the night shooting 55 percent, while the Eagles managed to shoot 33 percent.
MSU gets back to action at home on Saturday when Little Rock visits. The game will air on ESPNU and tips off at 2 p.m. ET.
