Richmond, Ky. -- Morehead State got plenty of traffic on the base paths but fell to Eastern Kentucky 3-1 Wednesday night at Earle Combs Stadium in Richmond, Kentucky.
Morehead State (10-20/ 1-8 OVC) got five hits and five walks, and two others reached on EKU errors. But the Eagles stranded 10 runners in the game.
Eastern Kentucky (6-28/ 3-9 ASUN) got two runs in the bottom of the first inning on two walks followed by a two-out triple by Colonel left fielder Julius Scearce.
EKU added another run in the bottom of the third on a walk, a bloop base hit and a sacrifice fly to go ahead 3-0.
Morehead State dented the scoreboard in the eighth inning. Right fielder
Alex Kean led off with a opposite-field triple to left field. Catcher
Caden Sheridan drove him home with a double off the left field fence.

Hunter Porter (0-2) took the loss. He threw 2.1 innings, allowing three runs on three hits, and walked three EKU batters.
Eastern Kentucky starter Elijah Underhill (1-5) picked up the win. He threw five scoreless innings, allowing two hits. He walked five and struck out five.
EKU reliever Burkley Bounds (1) got the save. He threw four innings, allowing a run on four hits. He struck out two batters.

Trevor Callahan threw 4.2 shutout innings out of the bullpen for Morehead State. He scattered three hits, walked one and struck out three EKU batters
Morehead State returns to action Friday in the opener of an Ohio Valley Conference series with Little Rock at Allen Field at Prefontaine Park. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. ET.
