MOREHEAD, Ky. --
Morehead State's Rifle team is set to return from winter hiatus as the Eagles venture to shoot at Ohio State this weekend.

The Eagles are scheduled for a shoulder-to-shoulder match versus the Buckeyes Saturday with University of Mississippi joining the action for a tri-match Sunday. However, with winter weather impending in the region and for safety sake, MSU may decide to forgo Sunday's competition and return home after the match Saturday.

MSU has a 5-3 mark in true shoulder-to-shoulder action in 2025-26 and has shot as high as 4,686 (vs. VMI) this season, which included a school-record 2,327 in Smallbore. Ohio State finished the fall portion of the season ranked tied for 12th in the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association top-20.

Scores have been extremely tight among the squad this year, with three shooters within three points of each other in aggregate average. Approximately three points only separates five different athletes in Smallbore average, and three shooters are also within three average points in Air Rifle.

Senior Adrianna Beard paces MSU with an 1171.6 aggregate showing so far this season, and she also leads with a 592.1 Air average. Sophomore Trey Myers' 579.6 Smallbore mean tops the Eagles, but Beard is literally millimeters behind at 579.5. In Air, senior Hayden Bell is less than a point behind Beard at 591.7.

Following action in Ohio, MSU is set to return home next Saturday to host North Georgia. That will mark the final match before the Ohio Valley Conference championship, set for Feb. 7-8 at UT Martin.
