MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Morehead State and Kentucky Christian cross country programs have joined forces to host the Eagle/Knight Invitational, the first home meet for MSU since the 2023 Ohio Valley Conference Championships.
The competition will take place on Friday morning at the MSU-owned Eagle Trace Golf Club in Morehead. It is the same facility on which the 2023 OVC Championships were run. ETGC also served as the site of the 2013 OVC Championships.
The course is located at 1275 Eagle Drive in Morehead.
"I like how the field has turned out for the meet. We have 10 teams coming and should give us a similar feel to how OVC will look," MSU coach
Clay Dixon said. "It's always fun to compete at the home course. It's a fun course to be able to watch them race on. You could stand in two places and see pretty much the entire race."
The women will compete in a 6K that begins at 9 a.m., followed by the men's 8K at 9:50 a.m. It will be the same course that was used for the 2023 OVC Championships, beginning and ending on the driving range and then winding through parts of holes No. 9 and No. 1, then skirting along 18. The path will be two kilometers long with the women making three loops and the men four.
The course records are 20:42.8 for the women and 23:33.6 for the men. Southeast Missouri's Hannah Eastman and Eastern Illinois' Adam Swanson posted those times.
Awards will be presented to the top 15 individuals and the top two teams.
The event is free with ample opportunities along the route to watch the athletes.
