MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Jon Carroll was a crucial part of men's basketball's two wins this past week, and his play has garnered him the Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week accolade this week.
A 6-7 power forward from Tallahassee, Fla., Carroll posted his sixth double-double of the season with a career-high 22 points and 10 rebounds against Tennessee Tech Thursday, and he nearly had his seventh with 18 points and nine rebounds in a win over OVC co-leader Tennessee State Saturday.
For the week, he shot 73 percent overall and 80 percent at the free throw line. Carroll ranks third on the team, averaging 10.8 points per game. He leads the OVC in offensive rebounding and leads MSU with 7.7 boards per game overall.
Carroll and the Eagles head north this week to face Eastern Illinois Thursday and Western Illinois on the road Saturday.
