MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The Morehead State men's golf team had a strong showing in The Savannah Intercollegiate, placing fifth and finishing five strokes behind the tournament winner, West Georgia.Â
The tournament took place in Savannah, Ga., over the par-72, 7,131-yard Club at Savannah Harbor course. The Eagles were one of 18 teams that competed, posting a final score of 293-294-306—893.
Day two (round three) posed a challenge for many, as all teams shot over 300 on the final day except West Georgia (299), which ultimately moved up six spots to win the tournament. Wind gusts of up to 40 mph made conditions tough for all competing teams and individuals. The Eagles score of 306 was enough to prop them up one extra spot and claim the 5
th place position.Â
The Eagles were led by senior
Logan McCormick in round one, as he shot one under par with three birdies.
Evan Taylor (Individual) carded his best performance of the tournament, scoring a 76 (+4).
Round two was very similar as the Eagles were led by senior
Logan Liles, who shot even and dropped in four birdies. Sophomore
Gavin Augenstein carded a 74, shooting two over par for his best round of the tournament.

Seamus Bogan and junior
Remy Stalcup catapulted 19 spots in the final day, each finishing tied for seventh. Bogan and Stalcup both shot a score of 74 (+2)Â in the final day, each turning in a +5 for the tournament and earning each of them another top-10 finish.
Bogan (72-75-74—221) and Stalcup (74-73-74—221) both led the Eagles, each finishing tied for seventh. Liles finished t-33rd, carding a 76-72-78--226. McCormick (71-77-80--228) finished t-42
nd. Augenstein (79-74-83-236) and individual Taylor (76-80-87—243) also competed.
The Eagles had the second best average/score for Par 3s (3.13/+8) and finished tied for second in par 4s, with an average of 4.25. McCormick and Stalcup finished tied for second in par 3s, both with a score of -1 and a 2.92 average. Bogan finished tied for first for birdies in the tournament with 12.
The Eagles are back in action at the Jackrabbit Invitational in Boulder City, Nev., on Mar. 9-10.Â
