Marshall and Carroll Secure Final OVC Weekly Honors

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Playing a massive role in Morehead State Men's Basketball securing an Ohio Valley Conference co-Championship this week, George Marshall and Jon Carroll garnered two of the final three league weekly awards.

Marshall won the Player of the Week, while Carroll was tabbed Newcomer of the Week.

A senior from Jackson, Miss., Marshall averaged 25.0 ppg, 6.5 rpg, shot 65 percent and hit 17 of 18 free throws in wins over Southern Indiana and Little Rock. Marshall also nailed 64 percent (7-of-11) from three-point range. He started the week with 22 points, including hitting 12 of 12 free throws, in a 64-63 win over Southern Indiana. Marshall hit the game-winning pair of free throws with 6.9 seconds left. He returned Thursday with 28 points (17 in the first half) and hit five three-pointers to go along with seven rebounds in a 76-70 win at Little Rock.

Caroll nailed down his seventh double-double at Little Rock while coming one rebound short of another double-double in a win over Southern Indiana in MSU's home finale. He had 22 points (tying his season high) and grabbed 13 rebounds against Little Rock. Carroll had 12 points and nine rebounds against USI. He shot 67 percent for the week and hit 86 percent at the free throw line.

The Eagle duo will join their teammates at the OVC Tournament this week where MSU is the No. 2 seed and will play Friday night at 10:30 p.m. ET.
