MOREHEAD, Ky. -- A face familiar to new Morehead State women's basketball head coach
Jackie Alexander will be reuniting with her. Nan Garcia, who Alexander coached while at Toledo, has joined the Eagle staff as assistant coach.
Garcia, a native of Jeffersonville, Ind., (near Louisville) comes to Morehead State after one season on the staff at the University of Albany. She served as the Great Danes' director of operations as well.
Garcia opened her collegiate playing career at Penn State before playing four seasons at Toledo. As a fifth-year in 2024-25, she earned the Mid-American Conference Sixth Player of the Year honor. Garcia averaged 8.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists that season in helping the Rockets go 2-49 and earn a spot in the Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament.
Garcia has also worked with multiple organizations as a basketball coach - NextPlay's AAU, Maumee Valley (Ohio) Country Day School, and Central Catholic (Ohio) High School.
Scholastically, Garcia earned three Academic All-District honors from College Sports Communicators and was a four-time Academic All-MAC selection.
As a standout at Jeffersonville High School, she averaged 15.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.3 assists per game throughout her prep career and earned All-State and team MVP honors after guiding them to a conference championship as a senior.
Garcia graduated from Toledo with a bachelor's degree in business administration in 2023 and earned her Master of Business Administration degree there in 2025.Â
