MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State's Women's Golf team's consistency, with three sub-300 rounds, led to the Eagles tying for fifth place among 19 teams competing at this week's Golfweek/Stifel Spring Challenge in Pawley's Island, S.C.
The event was at the par-71, 6,082-yard Caledonia Golf and Fish Club.
MSU shot 299-293-294--886 to tie with former Ohio Valley Conference school Jacksonville State. Another former OVC program, albeit departing the league prior to MSU sponsoring women's golf - Middle Tennessee, ended up with the team title by three strokes over second-place Coastal Carolina.
The Eagles' highlight was senior
Tuva Marie Isebakke, who fashioned rounds of 75-73-70--218 to tie for eighth place. It marked her ninth career top-10 scorecard.
Junior
Isabella Wiley notched a top-20 finish, with a 70-79-74--223.
Both junior
Claudia Hofmeister and senior
Amelia Rae Greenlee finished among the top 30 in the 100-player field. Hofmeister turned in a 79-72-75--226, and Greenlee was at 77-73-76--226. Freshman
Morgan Kennedy finished out the five-player lineup and was 33rd with a 77-75-75--227.
Morehead State's next action is defending its Ohio Valley Conference championship when the league teams convene at a new course for the title event. Dalton, Ga., hosts the championship on April 19-21.
