Morehead, Ky. -- Morehead State Women's Basketball has added Presbyterian transfer Allie Sykes to its roster for the 2026-27 season.
Â
Sykes played in 26 games for the Blue Hose last season, making four starts and averaging 12.4 minutes per game. She averaged 4.2 points per game and led the team with 30 made three-pointers hitting treys at a 31.3% clip.
Â
"Allie Sykes is someone I've believed in for a long time," said Morehead State head coach Jackie Alexander. Â "I had the opportunity to recruit her years ago as a high school player and seeing her growth as a combo guard has been exciting."
Â
Sykes had a prolific career at Western Alamance High School in Burlington, N.C. Her senior season, the sharpshooting guard averaged 18.1 points per game hitting 43% from the floor. From three-point range, she hit 132 of her 315 attempts (43%).
"(Sykes) brings leadership, toughness, and a high basketball IQ to our program, and we're thrilled to welcome her to Morehead State," added Alexander.
Â
Sykes averaged 15.5 points per game over her four-year career at Western Alamance, shooting 41% from the floor and 38% from three point range, scoring 1,741 in her high school career.
Â
"I chose Morehead State University because from the moment I got there, it felt like family," said Sykes. "The coaching staff believed in me from the start, and Coach Jackie is someone I connected with years ago during my recruitment process. Building that relationship again made this decision feel right, and I'm excited to be surrounded by people who truly believe in me on and off the court."
