Morehead, Ky. -- The Morehead State women's basketball team has signed Furman transfer Samaria Taylor to join the Eagles for the 2026-27 season.

Taylor, a native of Knoxville, Tenn., appeared in 27 games for Furman making one start. She averaged three points and 1.4 rebounds per game in 10.6 minutes per game.

"Sammy is an elite addition to our program," said Morehead State head coach Jackie Alexander.  "She is an exceptional young lady who will immediately impact our program on and off the court. Her defensive versatility and two-way scoring ability set her apart, allowing her to guard multiple positions while also being a consistent offensive threat."

Taylor posted season-highs of 12 points and six steals against Bob Jones (1/3).  She tossed in 11 points against East Tennessee (2/7) hitting all three of her field goal attempts (including one three pointer) and went four for five from the free throw line.

"Beyond her talent, she brings a strong work ethic, high character, and a team-first mentality that will elevate everyone around her," said Alexander. "We're excited to welcome her and can't wait to see the impact she'll make here in Morehead."

Taylor hit 37% from the field and finished the season with 25 steals.

"I chose Morehead State because of the genuine connection with the coaching staff," said Taylor. "My previous history with coach Jackie made the decision easy. The atmosphere of the campus felt warm and the opportunities for development and academic success were the perfect fit for me. I am super grateful for the opportunity to continue my basketball and academic career at Morehead. I am looking forward to helping make history within the program!"
