Eagle Punter Ashton Adams Earns PFL Special Team Player of the Week Honors

Morehead, Ky. -- Morehead State's Ashton Adams has been named the Pioneer Football League's Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance Saturday in the Eagles' matchup at Austin Peay in Clarksville, Tennessee.
 
Making his debut at punter, the senior from Maysville, Ky., averaged 50.1 yards on nine punts, with a 67-yard boot that was one of four 50-plus-yard punts, and he had six downed inside the 20-yard line  (4 inside the 10) in a loss at Austin Peay.
 
Adams opened the day with a 53-yard punt before hitting three consecutive punts that were all downed at or inside the 10-yard line, including a 59-yarder. Adams' second half had a quieter start with punts of 42 and 48 yards before his 67-yard boomer that was downed at the seven-yard line. He closed the day with punts of 37 and 57 yards.
 
Morehead State returns to field Saturday, September 19^th when they travel to Macomb, Illinois, to take on the Leathernecks of Western Illinois. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET. The game will be aired on the Eagle Sports Network (flagship WIVY 96.3 FM) with Chuck Mraz and Jason Blanton on the call. The game can also be seen on ESPN+.
