Michael Crouch

Michael Crouch joined the Morehead State cross country and track and field coaching staff in January 2016 as assistant men’s and women’s distance coach. Crouch moved from Springfield, Mass., where he was the assistant cross country and track coach at American International College from 2014-15.
 
While at American International College, Crouch aided the AIC Yellow Jackets in achieving successes such as: three All-American Awards in cross country and track, nine NCAA Division II track national qualifiers, three North-East 10 Conference team titles in Cross country and indoor track, and nine North-East 10 individual conference champions
 
Before getting started in college athletics, Crouch was a volunteer assistant coach at South Tahoe High School in South Lake Tahoe, Calif., where he helped prepare athletes both mentally and physically for the demands of high school running and for future collegiate athleticism.
 
After graduating college, Crouch joined Zap Fitness/Reebok, a professional distance running group in Blowing Rock, N.C. He was trained under the professional guidance of Pete Rea, a nationally renowned distance coach.
 
In 2011, Crouch earned his bachelor’s degree in organizational communication from Queens University in Charlotte, North Carolina. While at Queens, a NCAA Division II university, Crouch emerged as a top collegiate athlete under the guidance of Head Coach Scott Simmons.

Crouch fought his way to the top of the D-II arena, earning three national champion titles (cross country, indoor 5,000-meter, and outdoor 1,500-meter), six All-American awards. He qualified for the 2009 USA outdoor track nationals in the 5,000 meter event and the 2009 USA indoor track nationals in the 3,000 meter race. He also earned a spot for Team USA at the 2010 NACAC Championships.
 
Crouch has trained under many acclaimed coaches such as Steve Scott, Scott Simmons and Rea, all of whom have had successful coaching careers, bringing athletes to the world-class level of racing.

While at Zap Fitness, Crouch married his wife Sarah in 2012. She is currently a professional marathoner for Zap Fitness/Reebok.

Crouch, the son of Glenn and Robin Crouch, has two sisters, Sarah and Melissa. He grew up in Morongo Valley, Calif., where he attended Yucca Valley High School.
