PRIOR TO MSU: Stanley graduated from Rowan County Senior High School, where he was one of the top competitors in the state at the 2A level. Stanley's senior year performances at the state meet were 18th in the 1600-meter run, 16th in the 3200-meter run and 37th in cross country. He also finished fifth at the regional cross country meet with the Vikings taking third in the team standings. As a junior, he finished 46th at the state cross country meet and fifth in the region. As a sophomore, he was 63rd in state cross country and 11th in the region. As a freshman at the state cross country meet, he was 115th. At the 2017 cross country regional, he finished 15th. As a team, Rowan County finished second in the region in 2019, third in 2018 and fourth in 2017.
