Mark Kost

Mark Kost, who has served on the basketball staffs at Coastal Carolina University for the past 11 years, is in his first season as assistant women's basketball coach at Morehead State.

Kost spent 10 seasons on the women's staff at CCU and was elevated to interim head coach in 2012-13 for the final half of the schedule. He helped guide the Chanticleers to six wins as the interim leader and more than 130 overall wins while on staff. He was the associate head coach his final two campaigns. Kost began his tenure on the men's staff at CCU in 2002-03.

He works primarily with the post players at MSU.

As recruiting coordinator at CCU, Kost signed and developed a Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Year selection, three all-conference picks, five Big South All-Freshmen nods, a pair of the league's Scholar Athletes of the Year and an academic All-American.

He recruited a host of student-athletes who went on to set school records, including the eighth-best point producer in program history and the school's single-game, single-season and career record holder for blocked shots.

Kost helped lead the Chants to five consecutive winning seasons from 2005-10. The 2005-06 squad made an 8.5 game improvement from the previous season, which ranked among the nation's top 20 most-improved Division I teams.

Prior to his stint at CCU, Kost was an assistant coach at St. Joseph's High School in South Bend, Ind.

Kost is a 1995 graduate of Notre Dame University, where he also assisted the football and men's basketball staffs in implementing internet recruiting.

Kost's wife, Samantha, is currently serving as the associate athletic director for academics at CCU.
