Iowa native Uyen Tran enters her first season with the Morehead State Women's Basketball program as an assistant coach. 

Tran arrived to Morehead State following a two-year stint as head coach and one season as an assistant coach at Graceland (Iowa). During her time at the helm, her team led the conference in steals per game in the 2021-22 season, while mentoring multiple players that were the conference leaders in steals and assists per game, as well as second in blocks per game that year. 

Tran mentored one NAIA Emil S. Liston Award recipient, seven All-Conference honorees, one All-Conference All-Defensive honoree, six All-Conference Scholar Athletes, and five Daktronics Scholar Athletes. Under her leadership, the program was ranked ninth in the WBCA Top-25 Team Honor Roll with an overall GPA of 3.6 during the 2021-22 season. 

Tran also served one year as an assistant coach for the women's basketball program at SUNY (N.Y.) Sullivan Community College, where she helped lead the team to a 14-11 record in their first year of their transition to NJCAA DII. 

During her stint at SUNY Sullivan, the team won the 2018-19 Mid-Hudson Conference Championship and 2018-19 Region XV Championship, and advanced to the District N&O Semifinals. She also helped mentor and develop the 2018-19 Mid-Hudson Conference Player of the Year, Region XV Player of the Year, Region XV Tournament MVP, two Mid-Hudson All-Conference honorees, two Region All-Tournament Team honorees, and one NJCAA DII All-American.

Tran earned her Master's of Education in Athletic Administration from Central Methodist (Mo.) in 2018. She was a graduate assistant in the athletic department and also served as a volunteer assistant coach for the reserve women's basketball program at Central Methodist from 2016-18, where she helped guide them to a 21-11 record, in two seasons, and coached one NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athlete.

She earned her Bachelor's in Business Management and Sports Administration from William Penn (Iowa) in 2016.
