After serving in the role of SWA for several years, Morehead State women's golf head coach Stephanie Barker is now also in the role of the Assistant to the Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Development and Wellness.
In addition to her coaching duties, Barker provides a valuable role helping with mental health and student-athlete wellbeing issues and initiatives.
Barker is in her 18th year at Morehead State, having been hired during the re-establishment of the program in 2007. She fielded her first team in 2008-09 and has led the Eagles to unprecedented success.
She has mentored five OVC Golfers of the Year (2011, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2023), five OVC Freshmen of the Year (2010, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2023) and a trio of league-tournament medalists (2011, 2012 and 2023). Barker was named the 2011 and 2023 OVC Coach of the Year after leading the Eagles to the OVC Tournament titles.
Barker has coached more than 50 OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll recipients, 30 All-OVC performers and more than 25 National Golf Coaches Association Scholar All-Americans at MSU.
Barker came to Morehead State after six years (2001-06) as the head coach at Kentucky.
A native of Carmel, Calif., Barker earned a bachelor's degree from Oklahoma State in 1994 and master's degree from Kentucky in 2005. Barker played collegiate at Oklahoma State, where she was a four-time NCAA Championship qualifier.
