Junior middle blocker Laura McDermott has been named this week’s Female Pepsi Student-Athlete of the Week.

McDermott recorded a career-best 20 kills to lead the Morehead State volleyball team to a 3-2 (22-25, 26-24, 21-25, 25-23, 15-11) victory over Montana State in the finale of the Comfort Inn and Suites Invitational Saturday night at Wetherby Gym.

The Westfield Center, Ohio, native took 35 swings and made just seven errors en route to a team-best .371 hitting efficiency in the victory over the Bobcats.
