The U.S. Basketball Writers Association has selected Morehead State center Kenneth Faried as its Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week for games ending the week of Sunday, Jan. 30.
In earning his record 12th career OVC Player of the Week honor, Faried posted a 23-point, 23-rebound effort in a 72-65 win over Tennessee State, his second 20/20 game of the year (and the fourth of his career). Faried began the week with a 13-point, 15-rebound, 2-block, 3-steal game at Mid American Conference-leading Ball State, as the Eagles won 50-48 and snapped BSU's seven-game home winning streak. He capped the week with 17 points and 16 rebounds in a 69-56 victory over OVC-leading Austin Peay, avenging an overtime loss to the Governors earlier this season. With 14.3 rebounds per game, Faried continues to lead the nation.
