Former Eagle Golfer Lee Chaney Makes First Cut on Hooters Winter Series

Lake Mary, Fla. – Former Eagle golfer Lee Chaney fired an opening round 70 and carded a second round 69 to place him tied for thirteenth on the leader board at the Hooters Tour’s Bridgestone Winter Series Tournament. Chaney shot three-under on day two, the round included two birdies and an eagle on the par five fifteenth.

Chaney’s five-under leaves him six shots back of the tournament leader Matthew Kohn who is at 11-under.

A native of Morehead, Ky., Chaney was a standout golfer for the Eagle’s from 2004 to 2009. He played for his father, legendary coach Dr. Rex Chaney and was a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee while at MSU. Chaney had a very successful career starting in 2004 when he won the Butler Fall Invitational. During his senior year he had two top five finishes. Chaney shot a two-under par 214 to take fifth at the Tennessee State Big Blue Intercollegiate and he shot a one-under par 215 to take second at the OVC Championship. Chaney turned pro after he finished his career at MSU in 2009. In his first professional event Chaney finished 18th at the Kentucky Open.
