La. - The Morehead State women's track team has been named a Division I All-Academic team by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Eagles carried a 3.1 team GPA during the 2009 season.
The selection of the All-Academic Indoor and Outdoor Scholar Teams of the Year award is based on a combination of academic and athletic achievements, with the top honor going to the team that had the combination of best overall finish at the respective Division I Indoor or Outdoor National Championships and cumulative GPA.
To be nominated, the team must carry a minimum 3.000 cumulative grade-point average.
Three Ohio Valley Conference teams were named All-Academic Teams. Besides MSU, fellow OVC members Austin Peay State University and Southeast Missouri State made the list.
The University of Tennessee Chattanooga took first place with a 3.550 team cumulative GPA, followed by Butler University with a 3.547 team GPA.
