MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The Morehead State men's cross country and track teams will add 12 new student-athletes to the roster for the 2009-2010 season. Andrew Lewis (Hagerhill, Ky./Johnson Central), Matt Collins (Russell, Ky./Russell), Patrick Fouch (Morehead, Ky./Rowan County), Jeffery Covington (Williamstown, Ky./Grant County), Adam Pettyjohn (Cincinnati, Ohio/Deer Park), Kody Johnson (Ewington, Ohio/River Valley), Russell Miller (N. Shelbyville, Ind./Triton Central), Taylor Beeler (Weaverly, Ohio/Huntington), Nathan Fannin (Sciotoville, Oh/Wheelersburg), Payton Gibson (Pikeville, Ky./Pike County Central), Chris Bonaparte (Glenville, NY/Scotia-Glennville), Josh Alford (Owenton Ky/Owen County) will all wear the blue and gold next season.
Lewis earned the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Class AA State Champion in the 100 meter and 200 meter dash in 2008-2209. His personal record for the 100 meter is 10.94 and his best in the 200meter is 21.78
Collins finished third in 2008 State AA mile and 25th in 2009 AA State Cross Country meet while at Russell High School. His personal best in the 5,000 meter in cross country is 16:52. In track his personal best for the 1,600 meter was 4:31, and his best in the 800 meter was 2:04.
Fouch, a Morehead native, finished fifth in 2009 State AA 800 meter. He brings a personal best of 2:00 in the 800 meter and 4:48 1,600 meter to his hometown university.
Covington's personal best in the cross country 5k was 17:06 while at Grant County High School. His best in the 1,600 meter was 4:36, and his best in the 800 meter was 2:04.
Pettyjohn was the Ohio High School Athletic Association Division III District Champion in 110 meter and 300 meter hurdles. His personal best in the 110 meter hurdles is 14.85, and his record in the 300 meter hurdles is 39.65.
Johnson was a standout runner for River Valley High School in Ewington, Ohio. His personal best in the 110 meter hurdles is 15.69 and his best for the 300 meter hurdles is 42.15.
Miller is the only Indiana native in the 2009 recruiting class. His personal best in the 5k was 16:51.
Beeler's personal record in the long jump is 20'7.5". He was the Ohio Region 11 long jump champion in 2009.
Fannin's best in the 400 meter was 53.7 and in the long jump he holds a personal best of 19'7".
Gibson's long jump best was 19'7" at Pike County Central High School. Bonaparte set a personal best in shot put of 45'4.25". Alford's personal best in shot put was 42'6".
