Duzan Named PFL Special Teams Player of the Week

MOREHEAD, Ky.—Morehead State freshman kicker Rainer Duzan was named Pioneer Football League Special Teams Player of the Week Sunday the league announced Sunday afternoon.

Duzan booted the game-winning field goal in the second overtime Saturday to lift MSU over North Carolina Central 13-10. It was Morehead’s first road win in overtime and Duzan’s first game-winning field goal.

Duzan had also hit a 27-yarder in the fourth quarter. He missed his first chance to win the game in the first overtime from 38 yards out, but composed himself for the game-winner on MSU’s next possession.

“Not bad for a rookie,” said MSU coach Matt Ballard after the game. “He is a special young man, and for a freshman to come into such a pressure situation and keep his composure tells me his is going to have special career here. “

The kick moved Morehead to 2-1. The Eagles open PFL play against Butler at Jayne Stadium Saturday at 1 p.m.
