CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.--The Morehead State volleyball team lost its first Ohio Valley Conference match, falling to Austin Peay 3-1 (25-22, 25-12, 20-25, 25-20) Tuesday night.
Holly Evans had 13 kills and Annie Gruenschlager notched 12 in the loss. Kirstie Brangers had 41 assists and three aces and Kristina Schoo tallied 28 digs. Gruenschlaeger also hit a career best .417.
Stephanie Champine led the Lady Govs with a match high 19 kills. APSU was efficient on offense, hitting .262 to the Eagles' .179 effort.
The Eagles had 79 digs, but the Lady Govs came up with 91 balls on the back row.
After dropping the first two sets, the Eagles responded with a 16-kill, .273 attack effort in the third set to win 25-20. However, the hosts also responded in the fourth frame with 19 kills and only four errors to put the match away.
Morehead State returns home this weekend to host Eastern Illinois Friday at 7 p.m. and Southeast Missouri Saturday at 5 p.m.
