Misback Finishes 2nd at Cincinnati Invitational

HEBRON, Ky. - Morehead State senior men's golfer Alex Misback finished second among the field of 90 players at the Cincinnati Bearcat Invitational. The event, played at the Traditions Golf Club, wrapped up Tuesday with the completion of round two and the final 18-hole round. As a team, MSU finished ninth.

After an opening round 73, Misback returned to fire the event's second lowest round in the second 18 holes, a five-under-par 67. He concluded with a one-under-par 71 Tuesday to card a tournament tally of 211 - five stokes better than par.Northern Illinois' Jeff Dick shot a 68-69-72--209 to edge Misback by two strokes.

Oakland University, which was tied with host Cincinnati after round one, led after the second round and finished off the team victory with a 871 three-round total. NIU was a close second, just two strokes back, and Ball State was onlt three shots out of the lead. The Eagles finished with an 888 team score and were two strokes behind fellow OVC member Austin Peay. UC dropped from first to seventh. The Eagles finished just ahead of Eastern Kentucky.

Jared Flanery fashioned a 72-75-75--222 to end the event in 28th place. Sam Zirnheld turned in a 76-77-75--228, while Michael Brown rebounded from a tough second round 80 to shoot a 74 on Tuesday. He finished with a 78-80-74--232.

Tommy Carrico was MSU's final player, and his totals read 83-75-77--235.

The Eagles are scheduled to play in their final event of the Fall season on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 18-19 at the F&M Bank Intercollegiate, hosted by Austin Peay, in Hopkinsville, Ky.
