Four Top-10 Finishers Aid Men's Golf To Keene Trace Victory

MOREHEAD, Ky. – After a cold start to the morning, the Morehead State Eagles turned in four top-10 finishers to finish first in the Keene Trace Collegiate. That was the first, first place finish for Morehead State since 2023 at the APSU Intercollegiate. 

The tournament took place in Nicholasville, Ky., over the par-72, 7,328-yard Keene Trace Golf Club course. Morehead State (Who also hosted the tournament) was one of 7 teams that competed, posting a final score of 306-286—592 and finishing 1st in the tournament.
 
The Eagles teed off around 9:30 a.m. due to a frost delay and golfed in sub-30-degree weather for over an hour. Once it warmed up, the Eagles seemed to respond well, improving as the day went along.

Round one finished up with the Eagles tying for second with Centre College. The Eagles finished +17, putting them seven strokes behind Pikeville for the lead. Senior Logan Liles led the team through round one, finishing two over par with four birdies. Seamus Bogan followed closely, shooting four over par after scoring even on every hole on the back nine. Gavin Augenstein and (Individual) Clifton Scully each shot five over par with one birdie.
 
Round two was when the Eagles made their push up the leader board. The Eagles were the only team to finish below par (-2) in round two. Senior Logan McCormick led the Eagles with a strong, three strokes below par round. McCormick claimed the highest riser title (moving up 26 total spots) after his six bogies in round two. Gavin Augenstein also turned in his best round (-2) and moved up 12 spots. Colten Wilson moved up 15 spots shooting (+3) and Remy Stalcup also competed for the Eagles.
 
Gavin Augenstein led the Eagles (77-70—147) tying for 5th and earning his first career top-5 finish. Logan Liles followed closely (74-74—148), tying for 7th and earning his first top-10 finish of the season and third of his career. Seamus Bogan (76-73—149) and Logan McCormick (80-69—149) both finished tied for 10th. McCormick earned his second top-10 finish of the season (4th of his career) and Bogan earned his fifth top-10 finish of the season (6th of his career). Seamus Bogan has now finished tied-10th or better in four straight tournaments.
 
Colten Wilson (82-75—157) moved up 15 spots and finished tied for 29th. Remy Stalcup (79-79—158) and Mitchell Gastright (individual) (82-76—158) tied for 33rd. Individuals Jace Patrick (82-79—161), Clifton Scully (77-85—162), and Evan Taylor (85-86—171) also competed.
 
The Eagles finished first in par-4 average (4.28) and first in par-5 average (4.83). The Eagles tied for first with 31 birdies and finished first in total pars (125). Junior Colten Wilson tied for second in par-3 scoring average, with an even 3.00. Logan McCormick tied for fifth in par-5 scoring average (4.63) and tied for second in total birdies with eight. Seamus Bogan tied for second in total pars with 26.  

The Eagles are back in action at the Racer Intercollegiate in Paducah, Ky., on Apr. 6-7.
