Eagles Travel To Edwardsville To Face Future Conference Foe

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill.--
Morehead State is coming to the end of its nearly two-week road trip, and will close out that swing Sunday at SIU Edwardsville. The game will tip-off at 5 p.m. Eastern and will mark MSUs first trip to Edwardsville.

The Eagles have lost three straight, but are holding their heads high after playing with two top-10 teams, Florida and Ohio State. MSU took the Gators to the wire, losing by six, but had the score down to five late in the game. Kenneth Faried and Ty Proffitt each tallied double digits in both games

The focus now shifts to SIU Edwardsville, a recent Division I convert and the newest member of the Ohio Valley Conference. Due to their status as a reclassifying institution, Sunday’s game will not count in the OVC standings. That means the game versus the Cougars will serve as Donnie Tyndall’s final chance to see his team in game action prior to the start of OVC play Thursday.

SIUE is 1-5 this season with the only win coming against MacMurray last Saturday. Iowa, Missouri Kansas City, Illinois State and IPFW were the four non-OVC losses and Eastern Kentucky beat the Cougars 81-65. Mark Yelovich leads SIUE with 15 points per game and Nikola Bundalo pulls down 7.4 rebounds per game, but will not play against MSU because of injury. He missed the game at Morehead last season too. Bundalo also scores 14.4 points per game and Corey Wickware completes the double-figure scoring averages at 14.8 points per game.

Last year’s game, a 66-46 MSU win, resulted in a 23-point, 16-rebound double-double for Faried, five assists for Demonte Harper and three steals for Terrance Hill. That was the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

Morehead State returns home Thursday to open OVC play against UT Martin at 7:45 p.m. in Johnson Arena.
