Sorg Announces 2011 Baseball Schedule

2011 Baseball Schedule

MOREHEAD, Ky.
- Morehead State coach Jay Sorg released the 2011 Eagle baseball schedule Monday, and it features non-conference home games against Kentucky, Purdue and Cincinnati and road games against non-conference opponents Louisville, Indiana and Tennessee.

"I am very excited about our schedule," said Sorg. "The non-conference portion is very demanding but we believe it will make us better prepared for tough conference play."

The season begins with a three-game tilt against Western Carolina Feb. 18-20 and then dives into a demanding non-conference schedule. Kentucky travels to Allen Field Feb. 22 for the Eagles' home opener and then MSU plays host to Purdue Feb. 25-27 before traveling to Knoxville, Tenn., for the University of Tennessee Tournament. The tournament features Indiana, Bradley and host Tennessee.

Following the tournament, the Eagles continue their non-conference slate against Lipscomb, LaSalle, Georgetown (Ky.), Miami University (Ohio), Canisius and Pikeville before beginning the Ohio Valley Conference slate against Southeast Missouri State March 26th.

Sorg says that he and his coaching staff scheduled the non-conference opponents for a specific reason.

"I want to thank Jason Neal for all his efforts in putting the specifics of the schedule together. We play schools from eleven different conferences or independents," explained Sorg. "By design it is a great measuring stick for us to find out where we are and what direction to take for the future. Our fans should be excited about the BCS Conference schools who are coming to Allen Field."
