CLARSKVILLE, Tenn--One of the toughest road trips in the OVC this season gets even tougher for Morehead State men’s basketball Tuesday night at Austin Peay. Tip-off at Dave Aaron Arena will be at 8:30 p.m. Eastern.
The Eagles enter Tuesday’s game following back-to-back losses, including a disappointing game at Tennessee State, when MSU was troubled by turnovers and free throw shooting. To add insult to injury, Morehead State faces the hottest OVC team Tuesday in the Governors.
Tyndall is 6-3 against Austin Peay and the Govs long-time coach Dave Loos, but APSU holds a 49-47 record in the all-time series. Usually a close game, the past three meetings have been brutally tight and two of those have been overtime affairs. MSU was riding a four-game winning streak over Austin Peay, but the Govs ended that with a one-point win in Clarksville.
The Governors have wins over St. Louis, Chattanooga, an overtime loss to ranked Memphis and a perfect OVC mark at 3-0. Their most recent two games, the two-point loss to Memphis and a sound beating of Eastern Kentucky, came without the services of preseason All-OVC player Anthony Campbell, who was lost for the year due to injury. In his place TyShawn Edmondson and Josh Perry have been the go-to guys. Edmondson has turned heads in the OVC with his league-leading average of 19.1 points per game. Terry averages 9.7 points, but has stepped up in big games, including tallying 22 versus EKU. In all the Governors average 76.0 points per game, but they allow 70.2 points from their opponents.
After the APSU game, the Eagles take time off for Christmas before beginning a five-game home stand that includes three good non-conference opponents, starting with Kent State. That game will be played on Dec. 28 in Johnson Arena at 7 p.m.
