MOREHEAD, Ky.--Morehead State men’s basketball hopes to make it two in a row and win its 21st straight game at home Thursday when the Eagles welcome Binghamton into Johnson Arena Thursday at 7 p.m. Admission to the game is free for all MSU facutly and staff with a valid ID.
The Eagles are fresh off a 17-point win over Kent State Tuesday, marking Morehead State’s 20th consecutive home victory. A complete team effort, four of the five Eagle starters scored in double figures to turn back a talented Kent State team.
Led by Kenneth Faried and Demonte Harper, MSU got big contributions Tuesday from Terrance Hill, and Ty Proffitt, who joined Harper and Faried in tallying 68 of MSU’s 76 points versus Kent State. The Eagles also got significant minutes from six bench players.
Faried raised his scoring average to 18.7 points per game, and he’s now rebounding at 14.0 boards per game. Harper and Hill also improved their scoring averages to 17.1 and 9.4 points per game respectively.
Standing in the way of the 21st consecutive win at Johnson Arena is a first-ever meeting with Binghamton. The Bearcats are in rebuilding mode under second-year interim coach Mark Macon and are 3-8 this season. All three wins have been by two points or less. This will be the second game in a four-game road swing for BU, having lost at Marshall Tuesday 85-60. It was their second straight loss.
Greer Wright leads Binghamton with 14.8 points and 3.3 assists per game and is the only Bearcat averaging over 8.5 points per game. Mahamoud Jabbi is BU’s leader on the glass, grabbing 6.3 rebounds per game. They shoot 38.8 percent from the field and hit threes at a 33.3 percent clip.
Following Thursday, one more non-conference game in the MSU five-game home stand awaits the Eagles Sunday when College of Charleston makes its first-ever trip to Johnson Arena. Tip off for that game is at 4:30 p.m., following the Morehead State women’s game versus Longwood at 2 p.m.
