Eagles And Redhawks Set for Show Me Center Showdown Saturday

Game Notes | Listen Live | Live Video

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -
The Morehead State women's basketball team will travel to Southeast Missouri on Saturday, Feb. 13 for a game against the Redhawks tipping off at 6:30 p.m. EST. at the Show Me Center.

KFVS Channel 12 in Cape Girardeau will be providing a free web cast of the game, and the game can also be heard live on the Eagle Sports Network.

Morehead State had its second five-game winning streak halted Thursday night with a 74-63 setback at Eastern Illinois. The Panthers moved closer to clinching the league's regular season title and numbner one seed, but MSU is still in prime position to cpature the number two seed. A win over the Redhawks, coupled with an Austin Peay loss to Tennessee State, would do it.

Otherwise, the Eagles' (18-8/11-3 OVC) magic number is two, meaning they just need two wins in their four to take second. Two wins would also secure the best OVC winning percentage in school history.

The Eagles' prolific three-point shooting reached another milestone Thursday. With 11 triples, the Eagles set the Ohio Valley Conference single season team record. The previous mark was 267 and MSU now has 269. Junior Chynna Bozeman also inched closer to the MSU single season and OVC career mark for treys. She needs just four more to break her own MSU single season record of 95 and just six to break the OVC and MSU career mark of 248 held by Kandi Brown. The OVC single season standard is also within her grasp at 105.

Southeast Missouri (7-16/4-9 OVC) is sitting in 10th place in the league. The Redhawks have struggled with injuries, illness and other problems this year ans that has led to a low offensive output. The Redhawks' two top scorers are out for the season, and current leading scorer Bailie Roberts just now returned after a six-game absence. The Redhawks were also without forward Patricia Mack on Thursday night against Eastern Kentucky. SEMO has failed to reach the 20 point mark in the first half in six games now this year. Included in that was a 75-37 loss to MSU on Jan. 14. The 37 points was the lowest allowed to any opponent for the Eagles since the NCAA era began in 1981-82.
