KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Morehead State junior forward
Kenneth Faried has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 19 First Team, the NABC announced Tuesday.
The junior standout had an extraordinary year on his way to being named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year. The Newark native averaged 16.6 points a game, while hauling in 13.0 boards per contest to lead MSU. Faried’s rebounding mark currently puts him second in the nation in that category. Faried was also named the OVC’s Defensive Player of the Year, adding 1.6 steals per game and 1.9 blocks per game to go with his rebounding total.
The NABC All-District teams recognize the nation's best men's collegiate basketball student-athletes. Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, the 240 selected student-athletes, from 24 districts, are eligible for the State Farm Division I All-America teams.
Faried and his Eagle teammates begin their quest for a CBI title tonight, when they host Colorado State at 9:00 p.m.
