Basketball In Beantown For CBI Quarterfinals

GAME NOTES | LISTEN LIVE | LIVE STATS | LIVE VIDEO

BOSTON, Mass.--#
Donnie Tyndall# has had a season of firsts this year. He’s the first Morehead State coach to lead the Eagles to back-to-back 20 win seasons, he’s the first coach to earn 15 OVC wins and on Monday he will try to become the first coach to win two post season games in the same year.

MSU plays at Boston University in the Quarterfinal Round of the CBI Tournament. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at BU’s Case Gymnasium. Eagle fans will watch the live internet stream from the AAC at the Blue Gold Boston Watch Party, which begins at 6 p.m.

A win Monday would also improve the Morehead State (24-10) win total to 25, equalling the school record for victories. The Eagles, who’s only loss in the past six games was the OVC Championship loss to Murray State, advanced to Monday’s Quarterfinal round with a win over Colorado State last Wednesday at Johnson Arena.

Boston beat defending CBI champion Oregon State, scoring a CBI-record 96 points on the road in Corvallis, Ore. before returning home for the quarterfinals. Runners-up in the America East Tournament, the Terriers (20-13) were 11-5 in the America East. They have four players that average in double figures, led by John Holland’s 19.2 points per game. Holland and Jake O’Brien lead BU in rebounding with 6.1 and 6.3 boards per game respectively.

Outside of the CBI Tournament victory over Oregon State, the Terriers best non-conference win this season was a four-point affair over Indiana at the Puerto Rico Tournament. Like Morehead, they played in their conference championship game, losing to eventual champion Vermont.

Whichever team wins Monday, their future opponent is up in the air. The CBI bracket has the MSU/BU winner facing the winner between IUPUI and Princeton, but each round of the CBI is re-seeded so the possibility exists of facing VCU, Green Bay, College of Charleston or St. Louis with the site to be determined Monday night. That semifinal game will be played Wednesday night.
