Softball Signee Brianna Athey Named Conference Player of the Year

MOREHEAD, Ky. - Morehead State softball signee Brianna Athey, who will transfer to Morehead State for the 2011 season from Lake Land College, has been named the Great Rivers Athletic Conference Player of the Year.

Athey has led her team to a 42-12 record this year while winning the GRAC conference title. Lake Land is also ranked 16th nationally in the junior college polls. As of the first week in May, Athey was hitting a team high .413 with 51 runs scored, 37 RBI and a team-best 15 doubles. She had 62 hits and seven home runs.
