MOREHEAD, Ky. - Morehead State men's tennis will be in action for the first time this Fall this weekend at the inaugural Purdue Fall Invitational.
Head coach Kevin Fulton will field a lineup of seven players for the event.
Newcomers Hugo Almonte and David Clifford will compete in flight A singles. Almonte faces Purdue's Mark Kovacs in the opening round, while Clifford is slated to play Simon Blomberg of Western Michigan.
Nathan Martin and Bradley Bryan will compete in flight B singles action. Martin is set to face Bartosz Jozwiak of DePaul. Bryan is scheduled to batle Zeyad Montasser of Western Michigan.
In flight C singles, Chris Shafik, Lovell Medcalf and Chase Kindred are in the bracket. Kindred will play Jordan Snyder of Soutern Illinois. Medcalf is scheduled for a first round match against Notre Dame's Brian Kelly, and Shafik will play Sean Bandy of Dayton.
Each flight will consist of four rounds to get to the championship match, and there will also be consolation brackets.
In doubles, the Eagles will have teams consisting of Martin/Clfiford and Medcalf/Bryan in flight A. In flight B, Almonte will partner with Shafik. Kindred will play a split squad with a player from Valparaiso.
