HEBRON, Ky. -- The Morehead State men’s golf team fired a 298 on Tuesday to finish with a 54-hole score of 884 at the 2011 Bearcat Invitational. The three-round total was good for seventh out of 15 teams.
Junior Sam Zirnheld was Morehead State's top finisher in the tournament. He carded a 71 in the third round to finish with a 218, which was good for a share of 10th.
Senior Dean Schneider (224) tied for 36th place overall, while sophomore Michael Pinsonneault (226) and senior Crit Reddick (226) earned a share of 45th, and junior Jared Flanery (227) was knotted for 50th.
Ohio Valley Conference foe Austin Peay shot a 290 on Tuesday to win the event with a three-round score of 868. Kentucky (869), Dayton (870), Eastern Kentucky (873), Cleveland State (881) and Georgetown (881) finished ahead of MSU in the team standings.
Georgetown's Brian Dorfman and Cincinnati's David Tepe, who both fired 68s in the final round, tied for the top individual honors with 54-hole scores of 210.
The Eagles return to the links on Monday when they open the two-day F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate. The action will take place at The Links at Novadell in Hopkinsville, Ky.
