MOREHEAD, Ky. – Morehead State Rifle split on the road this past weekend against Ohio Valley Conference foes UT Martin and Murray State.
The Eagles shot a 4,567 in response to UT Martin’s competitive 4,558. Then on Sunday, the team shot a 4,558 of their own versus Murray State’s 4,701.
While at UT Martin, three Eagle freshmen shot personal bests in air rifle including
Ethan Cole who shot an impressive 579.
Christian Hashagen and
Jumell Wilson made some noise with personal bests of 572 and 571, respectively.
Sophomore standout
Mary Saenger also had a big weekend with two aggregate scores of 1,145 (UT Martin) then a huge 1,157 (Murray State). Saenger shot a team and personal season high 586 in air rifle at Murray State, leading her to a top five finish for the air rifle portion. Cole finished with a top five as well in smallbore.
Junior Rob Gagliani shot a personal season best 570 in air rifle at Murray State, adding to the Eagles' string of personal bests on the weekend.
The Eagles also faced Texas Christian while at Murray State, finishing with in third place behind both teams.
This was the Eagles’ last road trip before hosting the final two matches of the fall season. Morehead State rifle is back in action on Saturday to take on the Keydets of Virginia Military Institute. The Eagles now hold a 3-4 record going forward.
