MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The Morehead State men’s basketball team (5-7) returns to Johnson Arena on Friday when it hosts Mid-American Conference opponent Ball State (6-3) at 6 p.m. ET.
Individuals who purchase tickets to Friday’s game against BSU will be given a free ticket for the New Year’s Eve doubleheader against Austin Peay. It’s an opportunity for Eagle fans to see three Division I college basketball games for the low price of just $7.
Friday's game will be webcast live on OVCSports.TV. It will also be broadcast on the Eagle Sports Network, which includes four affiliates in Eastern Kentucky and MSUEagles.com.
Morehead State owns wins over Asbury (Ky.), West Alabama, Princeton, Mid-Continent (Ky.) and Binghamton this season. The Eagles have dropped their last two home games, but had previously won six straight at Johnson Arena.
Ball State has posted victories over IUPUI, Calumet College, Texas Southern, UT Martin, SIU Edwardsville and defending national runner-up Butler this year. The Cardinals are 2-3 in true road games.
Morehead State is led by senior Terrance Hill (13.7 ppg), junior Milton Chavis (5.2 rpg) and senior Lamont Austin (2.7 apg). Hill knocked down 4-of-6 from three-point range en route to game highs of 21 points and four steals on Monday at Binghamton.
Ball State is paced by senior Jarrod Jones (19.6 ppg, 8.7 rpg) and classmate Randy Davis (7.6 apg). Jones, a four-year starter and First-Team All-MAC selection in 2010-11, posted 16 points, five rebounds and four steals on Monday vs. IUPUI. The Cardinals have made seven NCAA Tournament appearances in school history, but have not been since 2000.
Donnie Tyndall is in his sixth season as the head coach at Morehead State (101-77, .567) and his seventh year in charge of a college basketball program (131-82, .615).
Billy Taylor is in his fifth season as the head coach at Ball State (60-72, .455) and his 10th year in charge of a college basketball program (141-141, .500).
Morehead State owns a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series with Ball State after scoring a 50-48 win last December in Muncie, Ind. NBA First-Round Draft Pick Kenneth Faried posted 13 points and 15 rebounds in that contest for the Eagles, while Jones collected 14 points and 10 boards for the Cardinals.
