MOREHEAD, Ky.--Morehead State men’s basketball closes out the 2010-11 home schedule with a key pair of Ohio Valley Conference games, versus Eastern Illinois and Southeast Missouri. EIU is on tap first, entering Johnson Arena Thursday for a 7:45 p.m. regionally televised game. The game will air live on Wazoo Sports Network and will also be a part of Crazy Pants Party Night, when fans are encouraged to wear crazy pants to the game. The game is also sponsored by Sleep Outfitters with contributions from Loudmouth Golf.
These two games also mark the final home appearances for MSU seniors Sam Goodman, Demonte Harper and Kenneth Faried. Two of those seniors, Harper and Faried lead MSU in scoring, rebounding and assists. Faried averaged 17.0 points and 14.2 rebounds per game and Harper scores 15.8 points and 3.4 assists per game. The have combined to lead the Eagles to five straight wins and a 17-8 overall record. MSU is also at 9-4 in OVC play and in second place, just one game behind Murray State. That includes last Saturday's win at Tennessee Tech where redshirt freshman Drew Kelly was the star, scoring a career-high 21 points.
After beating Morehead State and Murray State in back-to-back games, Eastern Illinois has lost five straight. The Panthers are 8-15 overall and 4-9 in league play. Led by Jeremy Granger with 14.7 points per game EIU lost the services of its other double-digit scorer and Preseason All-Conference selection Tyler Laser to a back injury earlier this season. James Hollowell leads the Panthers with 6.2 rebounds per game and Granger’s 81 assists also leads EIU.
After Thursday, MSU prepares to host SEMO for a Saturday night senior finale. That game will immediately follow the women’s basketball senior game in which Chynna Bozeman will play her final home contest. Faried, Harper and Goodman will all be honored prior to the men’s 7:45 p.m. tipoff. The women’s game will tip-off at 5:15 p.m.
