MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State softball will look for a positive start in conference play this weekend when the Eagles host Austin Peay for a three-game set. Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled to start at 1 p.m., and Sunday's series finale is also set for 1 p.m.
The Eagles are 6-11 heading into the series. MSU fell 12-1 at Louisville on Thursday. This weekend will mark just the third, fourth and fifth home games for MSU. The Eagles opened their home schedule last Friday with a doubleheader sweep over Oakland University.
Austin Peay is 3-13 on the year. Offensively, the Lady Govs are led by Caitlyn Anderson's .286 batting average. Tiffany Smith hits .279 and has a team-best three home runs. Morgan Brewer has a team low 3.39 ERA but is just 1-6 in the circle.
Morehead State leads the all-time series with APSU 32-26-2. Recently, MSU has completetly controlled the series, winning nine straight since coach Holly Bruder took over in 2008. In those nine wins, the Eagles have only allowed the Lady Govs to score more than two runs in a game once. Prior to 2008, APSU won 15 of the 20 games dating back to 2001.
