JACKSONVILLE, Ala. --
Junior Kayla Brill hit a pair of home runs Sunday at Jacksonville State, but her prolific day was not enough as the Eagles fell 7-3 to the host Gamecocks in the series finale.

MSU fell to 9-16 overall and 3-3 in the Ohio Valley Conference. JSU ran its win streak to 11, improving to 19-6 and 6-0 in the league.

Brill moved to third on the MSU career home run list with 14 round-trippers now. For the Eagles, though, Tiffany Harbin only gave up one other hit to them in recording her second complete-game win in the series. Harbin (12-4) also struck out seven MSU batters.

Brill staked MSU to a 2-0 lead with a two-run shot in the top of the second. Her home run drove in Amber Riddle, who had walked.

In between, the Gamecocks got two-run homers in the third and fourth innings and scored three times in the fifth to push ahead 7-2.

Brill smacked her second circuit clout of the game and third of the year on the first pitch in the top of the seventh.

Freshman Kelcey McMurray (3-3) absorbed the loss as she allowed five earned runs in five innings in the circle. Ashley Boyd retired JSU in order in the sixth in relief. Stephanie Etter had MSU's other hit.

JSU totaled eight hits as Abbey Stepp was 2-for-2.

The Eagles will step out of OVC play on Thursday, March 24 for a doubleheader at Miami University. The first game is scheduled for 2 p.m. EDT.
