Lapole Named Assistant Athletic Trainer

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The Morehead State athletic department has announced the hiring of Chris Lapole as the new assistant athletic trainer.  He will be primarily working with men’s basketball, while also having various other duties in the sports medicine department.

Lapole most recently worked as a surgical first assistant and athletic trainer for Specialty Orthopaedics in Louisville, Ky. Previously, Lapole spent ten years in Minor League Baseball, including three years as the head athletic trainer for Louisville Bats, the Cincinnati Reds' Triple A organization, from 2005 to 2008. 

During his time with the Bats, Lapole was named the Athletic Trainer of the Year for the International League in 2008. He also served as athletic trainer for the Chattanooga Lookouts, Potomac Cannons, Stockton Ports, Mudville Nine, Clinton Lumberkings and Billings Mustangs.

Lapole graduated from Marshall University in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training. In 2008 he gained his Surgical First Assistant certificate from Madisonville Community College in Madisonville, Ky.

He holds memberships in the National Surgical Assistants Association, the National Association of Orthopaedic Technologists and the National Athletic Trainer's Association.
